The Journey Continues: Embracing Progress and New Horizons
Hello again, dear readers! It’s been a while since I last shared an update on my journey with type 2 diabetes. I’m elated to share some good news and the latest milestones I’ve achieved, along with new practices I’ve embraced since we last spoke. My journey continues to evolve, bringing both challenges and triumphs.
First off, I’m thrilled to report that I’ve managed to maintain my HbA1c around the impressive mark of 5% — a true testament to the diligent efforts and lifestyle adjustments I’ve committed to with support from my family. This achievement was not without its moments of faltering; however, each misstep was immediately met with reflection and correction, reinforcing my commitment to health.
New Additions to My Regimen
One of the most significant new elements I’ve incorporated into my daily routine is meditation, specifically through a device called Pulsetto. This practice has not only helped in managing stress but also in maintaining a balanced emotional state. I was skeptcial when I bought this device but over time I developed a habit of using it to meditate everyday for 6–10 mins without fail. So far so good.
Another noteworthy addition has been the consumption of Methi Dana (fenugreek seeds) water in the morning. This traditional remedy has been a simple yet effective way to kickstart my day, supporting blood sugar regulation and offering a host of other health benefits.
Building and Sustaining New Habits
The journey has also been about building and sustaining new habits. From the disciplined consumption of a balanced diet to regular physical activity, each habit has been a stepping stone toward maintaining my health achievements. The discipline of reflecting on my actions, acknowledging when I’ve veered off course, and then taking immediate steps to correct my path has been pivotal.
A New Perspective on Medication
An interesting revelation in my journey was learning about the broader acceptance and use of Metformin, not just among those managing diabetes but also by individuals in high-stress, high-stakes environments like Silicon Valley. Icons like Sam Altman, and many CXOs, use it daily for its potential health benefits. Initially, my goal was to wean off Metformin; however, understanding its importance and benefits from a wider perspective has led me to appreciate its role in my health regimen.
The Power of Responsibility
Central to my journey has been the Responsibility Process, a framework by Christopher Avery. It has been my compass, guiding me through the ups and downs of managing diabetes. The principles of Intention, Awareness, and Confront have not just applied to my health; they have permeated every aspect of my life, including my professional role as an Agile coach. Learning to take personal responsibility has empowered me to achieve milestones I once thought were beyond my reach.
Looking Ahead
As I continue on this path, I’m committed to exploring further avenues for improving my health. I’m considering delving deeper into nutrition and possibly enrolling in courses to expand my knowledge. The journey is far from over, and I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.
In sharing my story, my hope is to inspire others facing similar challenges. It’s a journey of continuous learning, adjustment, and growth. Thank you for being a part of my journey. Let’s continue to inspire each other and drive change in our lives, armed with knowledge, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.
Until next time, stay healthy and empowered!
